Sour Lemon Studios is excited to announce the release of their latest game, Tower of Dreams, arriving on Steam Early Access on October 8th.
Nintendo Switch players can also consider joining the adventure, with a Switch release coming soon.
A Delightful Journey Upward
Tower of Dreams is a retro-inspired roguelike platformer that brings players into the role of the Dream Knight, an agile hero armed with a sword and a set of simple but challenging platforming mechanics.
Players will face various enemies and obstacles as they ascend the titular Tower of Dreams, utilizing a mix of wall jumps, boops, and leaps to conquer each floor.
With its random selection of handcrafted stages and mini-challenges, no two runs through the tower will be the same.
Along the way, players can discover 36 unique items and permanent upgrades, alongside cosmetics that allow for customizing their knight.

The game’s charming mechanics encourage experimentation and skill refinement, providing a new experience each time players attempt to reach the tower’s summit.
A Whimsical World of Retro Pixel Art
Tower of Dreams brings its retro aesthetic to life with pixel art inspired by the classic Game Boy Color.
Using a limited 13-color pastel palette, the game creates a nostalgic, ethereal atmosphere across its various floors, each with unique mechanics and visual style.

From fantasy settings to factory levels and sky gardens, the game challenges players with different platforming tests and changing obstacles, setting a distinct mood for each part of the adventure.
Players must clear three stages to complete each floor, with stages selected randomly from a large pool, keeping the gameplay fresh and demanding adaptability.
Experiment, Upgrade, and Try Again

As players explore the tower, they’ll uncover special items, passive abilities, and upgrades that change the gameplay on each run.
Completing stages earns players a letter grade, which they’ll be reminded of the next time they encounter the same challenge, pushing them to improve and perfect their skills.
Failure isn’t the end in Tower of Dreams. When players meet their demise, a grave is left behind, containing an item from their previous attempt, providing an incentive to retry and recover what was lost.
This roguelike mechanic, combined with the various upgrades and new abilities, encourages continuous exploration and progression.
