Capcom’s First Development Division announced today that Resident Evil 4 Remake has sold over 9 million units worldwide as of December 19, 2024.

To celebrate this milestone, the company released a special commemorative illustration.

Originally launched on March 24, 2023, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Resident Evil 4 Remake expanded its reach with releases on iOS and macOS on December 20, 2023.

The game’s success has been consistent, with Capcom previously reporting 8 million units sold as of October 2024.

This means the game sold an additional 1 million copies in just two months, showcasing its enduring popularity and strong player reception.

A Modern Take on a Classic

Resident Evil 4 Remake reimagines the iconic 2005 survival horror game, modernizing its visuals, gameplay mechanics, and story while retaining the core elements that made the original a classic.

The remake was praised for its stunning graphics, enhanced controls, and faithful yet innovative approach to the source material. Its success underscores Capcom’s ability to revitalize its beloved franchises for both longtime fans and new audiences.

The game’s rapid sales growth highlights its strong market appeal. The release on mobile platforms further broadened its audience, allowing players to experience the horror masterpiece on the go.

Capcom’s strategic updates and post-launch support, including additional content and optimizations, have also contributed to the game’s sustained success.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is the latest in a series of successful remakes from Capcom, following Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake. These titles have not only revitalized the Resident Evil series but also solidified Capcom’s reputation as a leader in the survival horror genre.
