NVIDIA Announces Collaboration with "PUBG" and "Naraka: Bladepoint

NVIDIA has been showcasing its digital “ACE” characters over the past two years, which can use generative AI to converse with players in games.

But at CES 2025, NVIDIA announced that it is taking ACE characters a step further, demonstrating how they can become “autonomous gaming characters,” set to become “chicken dinner” teammates in “PUBG” at some point this year.

NVIDIA stated that ACE characters can use AI to “perceive, plan, and act like human players.” These characters can understand player requests and dynamically adapt to player tactics.

Powered by “small language models (SLM),” these models are “capable of planning at the human frequency required for realistic decision-making,” as well as “multimodal SLMs for vision and audio, allowing AI characters to hear audio cues and perceive their environment.”

NVIDIA and “PUBG” developer Krafton have collaborated to introduce the “world’s first cooperative playable character (CPC)”—Ally. NVIDIA stated that Ally will be able to “communicate using game-specific jargon, provide real-time strategic advice, find and share loot, drive vehicles, and use the game’s extensive arsenal to fight against other human players.”

In NVIDIA’s official demonstration, players can call out “Hey Ally” and then ask it to find level three armour, ammunition, cars, etc., and it can also coordinate with the player’s tactical actions, such as flanking attacks, cover, etc.

The “chicken dinner” AI teammate Ally is set to launch in 2025.

Gamedelux learned from NVIDIA’s official press release that NetEase’s “Naraka: Bladepoint” PC game, as well as the PC version of “Naraka: Bladepoint Mobile,” will also introduce local inference AI teammate features.

This functionality is developed in collaboration with NetEase’s Leihuo and Fuxi Studio and NVIDIA’s ACE technology and is also set to launch within the year.
