“HITMAN World of Assassination” surpassed 75 million players worldwide, developer IO Interactive announced, solidifying its status as the most successful game in the Hitman franchise.
The game show continued success since the release of the first part of the new trilogy in 2016 and achieved the franchise’s highest Metacritic score with “HITMAN III” in 2021.
“HITMAN World of Assassination” introduced a new take on the franchise, offering a blend of stealth action, freedom of approach, and a dynamic world filled with intriguing characters and lethal opportunities.
Since its release, the game continue to expand with live content, including new locations, contracts, seasonal events, and collaborations. In December 2024, the game saw 1 million active players, demonstrating its continued popularity.
The most recent content update featured Jean-Claude Van Damme as the Elusive Target Max Valliant, a former ICA operative. 40% of players who attempted the mission succeeded in taking down The Splitter, Max Valliant.
Players have used varied strategies to complete the mission. The longest player took over 7 hours, whereas the quickest player completed the mission in 21 seconds.
One player even used an apricot to take down Max Valliant. The Elusive Target mission will remain available until January 12th, which gives players one last opportunity to uncover Valliant’s scheme and take him down.
A “Splitter Pack” is also available for $4.99/€4.99/£3.99. The pack includes: The Replication, a two-level Arcade mission that allows permanent access to The Splitter, The Splitter Boxer Suit, a set of cosmetics for the Freelancer Safehouse, as well as three items.
HITMAN World of Assassination is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
