HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact Version 5.5, titled “Day of the Flame’s Return,” will be released on March 26, 2025.
This update brings new areas in Natlan, additional playable characters, events, a new companion, and system optimizations to the game.
New exploration areas
The update introduces two distinct regions in Natlan:
- Great Volcano of Tollan: A volcanic area located in southwestern Natlan.
- Sacred City of Tollan: An ancient city constructed by the Dragonborn, accessible through a unique entry method.
Players will encounter the Collective of Plenty, a tribe known for organizing fitness competitions and farming near the volcano.
New playable characters
Two new characters join the roster:
- Varesa (5-star Electro Catalyst):
- Employs Plunging Attacks to activate a “Fiery Passion” state, boosting Electro damage.
- Unlocks a lower-cost Elemental Burst while in this state.
- Restores Phlogiston for the party after consuming food.
- Iansan (4-star Electro Polearm):
- Boosts the active character’s attack and provides healing to allies.
- Delivers an Elemental Burst that grants an attack buff based on teammates’ movement distance.
- Gains a “Warming Up” effect after a Nightsoul Burst, continuously restoring HP to the active character.
New saurian companion
- Tatankasaurus: A Saurian that can break obstacles and temporarily move across water or liquid Phlogiston.
Event wishes
The update features two phases of character banners:
- Phase 1: Includes Varesa, Iansan, and a rerun of Xianyun.
- Phase 2: Features reruns of Xilonen and Venti.
Events and challenges
HoYoverse plans several activities:
- Bloomflower Trials: Players collaborate with Natlan characters, such as Mavuika and Ifa, to cure Saurian suffering from a rare disease.
- Saurian Treasure Seeker: A mini-game where players assist baby Saurians in collecting treasures, offering a free invitation to Ororon.
- Lava Dragon Statue: Players will encounter this new boss within the geothermal fissures of the Great Volcano of Tollan.
System optimizations
- Artifact Leveling: Sanctifying Elixirs now ensures at least two upgrades to Minor Affixes, streamlining the Artifact enhancement process.
Version 5.5 expands the Natlan region with volcanic landscapes and ancient cities, introduces new characters and a Saurian companion, and enhances gameplay through events and system improvements.
